Maple Cinnamon Latte with Barrel-Aged Coffee

Pumpkin spice may get most of the attention, but maple and cinnamon deserve a place in your fall coffee lineup.

This homemade maple cinnamon latte combines real maple syrup, warm cinnamon and bold barrel-aged coffee. It is rich enough to feel like a seasonal treat but simple enough to make before the day's grind begins.

Why Barrel-Aged Coffee Works in This Recipe

Barrel-aged coffee brings another layer of flavor to the cup. Depending on the coffee you choose, you may notice warm notes reminiscent of oak, vanilla, caramel or the spirit that once occupied the barrel.

Those flavors pair naturally with maple and cinnamon without requiring an overload of flavored syrup.

Maple Cinnamon Latte Recipe

Makes: One 12-ounce latte

Preparation time: Approximately 5 minutes

Ingredients

6 ounces strongly brewed Clout Coffee

4 ounces milk or unsweetened oat milk

1 tablespoon pure maple syrup

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Whipped cream and additional cinnamon, optional

Instructions

1. Brew the coffee slightly stronger than you would for an ordinary cup.

2. Combine the milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and sea salt in a small saucepan. 3. Warm over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. Do not allow it to boil.

4. Froth the warmed milk, then pour the coffee into a mug and slowly add the milk. 5. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon, if desired.

Make It Iced

Let the coffee cool, then stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Pour over ice and add cold milk. For a stronger drink, use frozen coffee cubes instead of regular ice.

Which Clout Coffee Should You Use?

A bourbon barrel-aged coffee makes an especially rich maple latte, while rum barrel-aged coffee can give it a slightly sweeter character. A traditional roast creates a more classic coffee flavor.

However you make it, this is the kind of fall drink that can power a cool morning, an afternoon brainstorm or a slow weekend on the porch.

Fall is here. Power your grind accordingly.
