About Our Barrel Aged Coffee Beans

We begin with single origin Colombian Arabica beans. The green beans are aged for eight or more weeks in freshly dumped spirit barrels. The barrels are rolled to ensure even exposure to the wet barrel staves to infuse the essence of the premium spirits.

Once the beans have aged properly, the barrels are cracked open to reveal the green beans. We then roast the coffee beans in small batches according to our Clout roasting profile. Any alcohol that may have been absorbed during the barrel aging process has burned off at the high temperatures, but the bold flavors and aromas of the spirits remain, giving our coffee a bold flavor you're sure to love!

Beans from the Colombian region are purchased from a variety of small producers near the Huila Mill. This El Camino Real blend is typically 90% Supremo, 10% Excelso but can vary depending on harvest season and market conditions. These beans typically have an elevation of 1100 - 1800 MASL with aromas of bakers chocolate, black walnut, stone fruit, and lemon with flavors of cocoa, bruleed fruit, and citrus.

Our espresso roast is a blend that includes beans from the Cerrado Mineiro region of Brazil. These beans have an elevation of 1050 -  1130 MASL with aromas of brownies, caramel, marshmallows, and juicy body with flavors of toasted oats, lemon tea, and Hostess cupcake.

Female Founded, Women Owned

In May 2018, three passions converged: a love for coffee, bourbon, and community, giving birth to what is now Clout Coffee. Founder Carole Sprunk envisioned a brand rooted in her passions, aiming to empower and inspire others in their daily lives. Coffee, a universal experience, connects us with family and friends and accompanies us in our solitary moments as we begin our days.

In October 2023, two couples came together to bring Clout Coffee to Hermann, Missouri. Clayton and Marie Newell joined forces with Brian and Alicia Jett to continue the brand’s legacy. Drawing on their combined experience in business, branding, and operations, the team relocated the roastery to Hermann and deepened Clout’s connection to local craft culture. After nearly two years of collaboration and growth, the Newells exited the business in September 2025 to focus on their distillery, Lionheart Whiskey Co., and other ventures. Their efforts helped establish Clout Coffee’s strong foundation in Hermann and strengthened its reputation as a premium barrel-aged coffee rooted in craftsmanship and community.
